Describe your show in a tweet-length description.
One-on-one interviews on Monday and a group show on Thursday!

Do you over-prep, under-prep, or perfect-prep for your episodes?
I've done all three but I feel best when I over-prep and then set all that aside and try to be in the moment.

If you were going to tell people to listen to ONE episode of your podcast right now, what would you recommend?
Paul Rust! (And then check out Jack Burditt and Jennifer Lee Pryor. And if you want to listen to a group show listen to the one where my husband accidentally ate a pot cookie at Bumbershoot.)

What are the qualities of a good podcaster?
Entertaining, honest, curious.

If you were going to start another podcast that would be wildly successful no matter what (so don't worry about it succeeding...this is JUST for you...) what would it be?
Something about words and linguistics. I started my career as a journalist and I love words and language

Can you remember any of the first podcasts you started listening to?
Doug Loves Movies and years before that I subscribed to a podcast about running because I wanted to start running but I couldn't figure out how to listen to it.

What do you hope your show does for people?
Makes them feel less alone, helps them through a tough time, encourages them to seek help if they need it in whatever form that takes, makes them laugh, makes them realize we're all quite similar deep down, exposes them to new ideas and people.

What’s the suckiest part about being a podcaster?
Explaining what podcasts are to people and where and how to find them.

And what’s the best?
Having a super deep conversation with someone that I just met.

Describe your listeners in 3 words.
The Fucking Best.

How has podcasting changed your life?
My husband was a listener! (It's a much longer story but that's the very short version.) And now we have two small kids and a house and a dog and a podcast studio in the back that needs an official name. Also it's taught me to be much more open and comfortable in my own skin. Almost everything in my present day life is a result of podcasting.

Give us a podcast recommendation.
Childish!

Tell me about it?
It's an irreverent parenting podcast that I cohost with comedian Greg Fitzsimmons. His kids are close to leaving home and mine are tiny so we like to compare notes and we come at parenting from two different vantage points. But we also talk about news and our lives and take listener questions. Lately we've been revisiting embarrassing journals we kept when we were younger.

Any others?
Yes! Throwing Shade and Natch Beaut!

Thanks, Alison!
