How to get your podcast guests to share
When it comes to podcasting with guests, securing interviews is just the beginning. Ensuring that your guests actively promote their episodes is a vital aspect of podcast growth.
In this blog, we delve into practical techniques to make it effortless for your guests to share their episodes on social media and other channels.
Explore the following strategies to make the most of your guest appearances:
💛 Making it easy for your podcast guests to share
📜 Create templates
The creation of templates makes it easy, both for them and you. Use Canva or your preferred design tool to make a template for all your guest posts. You can then send that to every guest so they can share their episode easily on social media. We recommend that this template include:
Their name and preferred pronouns;
Their job title;
A quote from their appearance on the podcast;
Their preferred social media channel(s).
Be sure to share this template with them prior to the release of the episode so you’re giving them enough time to tell you their details or request any changes.
👋 Meet them where they are
As mentioned above, ask what their preference is. If a specific social media platform is your forte, ask what theirs is. If it’s different from yours, this is good news! This allows you to tap into a whole other audience by getting them to post on their channel.
It’s worth mentioning: they might prefer newsletters as opposed to social media. If this is the case, write them a blurb about their episode which they can easily share on their newsletter.
🤝 Create collaborative posts
On Instagram, you can create collaborative posts with them, with their blessing. This makes it easy for them to share while also allowing you to piggyback on their Instagram following.
It goes without saying that if you’re posting on other platforms, remember to tag your guests. There, we said it just in case!
🖊️ Share your transcript
Transcribing your podcast is essential. Transcriptions also make it easier to pull quotes and share them on social media before and after the episode is released. Share the transcript of their episodes with your guest so they can repurpose the content for a blog, newsletter, or social media post.
It’s worth mentioning: take the time to organize the document you share with them. Add headlines or bookmarks to make it easier for them to read and navigate.
🍾 Bonus tips
Coordinate your timing and platforms
Sync your posting time with theirs. Say if you’re posting on certain days of the week, suggest that they post on some other day to cover more ground.
Make it accessible
Providing Alt Text to describe any images you’re sending your guest makes it easy for them to include it when they’re posting. It’s one more thing they don’t have to worry about!
Make it universal
Stick to pod.link when it comes to sharing the link to the episode. It’s universal so you don’t need to worry about where your guest is sending traffic to.
That’s all, folks!
